Mental Health Conditions We Treat
At CWC, we specialize in the following mental health conditions:
- Anxiety
- Bipolar Disorder
- Depression
- OCD
- PTSD
- Schizophrenia
If you suffer from symptoms of one or more of these conditions, it is time to get treated. That’s where Comprehensive Wellness Centers come in. We provide South Florida mental health treatment.
Diagnostic Services
You need a mental health diagnosis to receive insurance coverage for many of our programs. If you do not yet have an official diagnosis, we can help. We use brain mapping to identify the most likely diagnosis for you. Brain mapping allows for more accurate diagnosis and enables treatment customization. Our mental health professionals tailor your treatment plan to your unique needs.
Treatment Services
CWC is a full-service mental health treatment center. We offer inpatient and outpatient programs, as well as a trauma-specific track. You can also access TMS therapy and medication management.
Inpatient Treatment
An inpatient program is also known as residential treatment. Individuals temporarily reside at the facility where they receive care. Our treatment center is steps from the beach, offering a tranquil environment for recovery. The exact treatments you undergo in an inpatient program depend on your diagnosis. At the beginning of your stay, one of our treatment specialists will work with you to determine the safest, most effective action plan.
If you have a dual diagnosis (i.e., a co-occurring mental illness and addiction), we have services to help. First, you must undergo detox, and once you are substance-free, you may enter the residential treatment program. Mental health treatment plans include individual and/or group therapy and medication for symptom management.
Treatment goals are to help individuals develop new coping mechanisms to relieve their symptoms. New coping mechanisms include promoting healthier lifestyle changes, like diet and exercise, and fostering supportive, healing environments.
Outpatient Program
In an outpatient program, participants live at home instead of at the treatment facility. They commute to and from treatments throughout the week. This option allows greater flexibility to work and spend time with family.
We offer two outpatient programs: PHPs and IOP for mental health. With their daily treatments, PHP or Partial Hospitalization Programs are the most intensive. Meanwhile, IOP, or Intensive Outpatient Programs, offer the most freedom since patients must only attend a few weekly treatment sessions. Outpatient treatment programs are virtually identical to inpatient ones regarding the quality of care. Individuals receive individual and/or group therapy. You may also have access to medication services, depending on your condition. The goals of an outpatient program are the same as those for inpatient treatment. You will learn healthy coping mechanisms, make positive lifestyle adjustments, and create or improve support systems.
Trauma Program
Our specialty trauma program helps people with unresolved trauma get the individualized treatments they need as necessary. If you meet our criteria, our mental health specialists will add trauma-centered treatments to your plan. These treatments include specialized individual counseling and group therapy sessions with fellow trauma survivors.
We primarily utilize three evidence-based therapies for the treatment of trauma. They include:
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
- Reconsolidation of Traumatic Memories (RTM)
Each of these therapies has significant scientific evidence for treating trauma-related disorders like PTSD. They are safe and effective ways to treat trauma symptoms and develop new coping skills.
TMS Therapy
TMS therapy is a newer treatment for mental health conditions. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) delivers non-invasive and relatively pain-free magnetic pulses to the brain. It may help treat conditions like:
- Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
- Anxiety disorders, including OCD
- PTSD and other trauma-centered conditions
- Bipolar disorder
- Schizophrenia
- Substance abuse
These treatments work by stimulating specific neurons of the central nervous system. People with certain mental illnesses have lower activity in critical brain regions, which may cause or worsen their symptoms. TMS therapy aims to re-activate the neurons in these brain regions. That way, people can experience symptom relief without having to use medications.
Medication Management
When combined, medication and therapy are the most effective treatments for mental health conditions, so we offer medication management services for all our clients. You will work with our expert psychiatrist to find the proper medication. We also provide pharmacogenetic testing for more accurate and effective prescriptions.
